I am sorry for taking so long to get this posted. I wish I had some grand excuse but I have been lazy. I will tell everyone this may not be in sequential order. There was so much going on, it was hard to get it all down straight.
The Dresden game on Sunday was a hell of a ride. We had a trial, some detective work, a ball, a death, and a kidnapping I will try and get it all in and keep it straight but...no promises. As for what happened, the four of us may not be the most powerful people in the Big Easy but we sure are making the most enemies. If we keep this up, we will need to get one hell of a power base consolidated.
After a three month hiatus, we picked up with our intrepid troublemakers doing various things. During the downtime, Michelle and Sharee had been doing business stuff. Jack had been doing Warden stuff. Finally, Davi had been doing Knight of the Cross stuff. Time wise, we and the city are getting geared up for Mardi Gras. Let the monsters loose and the parties begin!
It started with Michelle and Sharee contemplating the arrival of Adam's new "son", baby Ian. There was no way in hell they were going to let that child remain in Adam's grasp. After a bit of a search, Sharee came across a newspaper story about a kidnapped baby from a small town just outside of the city. While looking for information about the baby, she also did some research about Tommy's possible birth family. She was able to come up with three leads. Two were in New Orleans; one was in Shreveport. We decided that Mardi Gras made for the perfect excuse to meet these families and see what we could find out.
One other incident of note happened to Michelle. Since it was previously an effective form of communication, she left a note on her door asking Martin for a visit. He showed up one night and they had a surprisingly pleasant conversation. This time no eyeballs were gouged out. Yay! She thanked him for the check and asked about the newest BCV (going to use abbreviations) who had taken over the Ghuls. He gave her an address located in the warehouse district. Michelle then told Martin about Davi's promotion to KoTC. It wasn't in threatening way but more in a 'bad things will happen if you two meet up' way. Even though she shouldn't, she likes Martin. Doesn't trust him a bit but likes him.
Over at Jack's, he had his own problems to deal with. He had caught a 17 year old Warlock and was holding him captive at his apartment. Not wanting to kill him right away (like he should have done, according to the Warden Handbook), he placed a call to Edinburgh to set up a meeting to discuss the situation. The downside to that was he had a young boy trapped in his place until the meeting.
It was then Sharee's turn. She and Thomas went to the movies and, as they came out afterwards, they noticed two men walking towards them. Both were impossibly handsome and pale. They came up to Sharee and one introduced himself as Ben Wraith. If you guessed they were WCVs, you were right. Ben (who we will see more of later) proffered an invitation to Sharee and explained it was for an upcoming ball celebrating the elevation of his father to Duke.
Davi also received an interesting invite of sorts. His was an email. In it, a friend asked him to come to a hotel room as soon as he could. When he got there, he met up with this person by the name of Timmy. Timmy was paranoid as hell. Before he opened the door, he asked Davi what he used to do to him all the time in high school. The answer was give him swirlies. Seems our Davi was a bit of thug when younger. Timmy was the person Davi had asked for help earlier in researching the coin. According to Timmy, since then he had felt like he was being watched. That something was after him. He also mentioned footprints outside his windows that didn't look...human. So, he was running scared. Davi decided that safest place for him was not at the hotel but either at Michelle's shop or the local Catholic Church. Neither place sounded good to Timmy, so Davi decided to take back to his place. Davi and Timmy then left the Hotel. As they headed to Davi's van, Davi noticed a guy watching them. He wasn't able to get a good look but was able to tell that the watcher was short, pudgy, and wearing a trenchcoat.
Jack's day then got a little more interesting. That morning, two men showed up on his doorstep...two impossibly gorgeous, pale men. Yep, it was Ben and his companion. They gave Jack his invitation to the ball. They also noticed the young man in Jack's apartment and emphasized that the invitation included a plus one. Jack was not amused.
Next on the invite list was Michelle. Ben caught up with her at Curiosity. Not too much bantering occurred. Just because Michelle is having sex with Blue does not mean all WCVs are her friends. She kept it short and businesslike.
After Sharee got to the shop, Michelle went to Davi's house. She had started combat training with him as another form of defense. While there, she got to meet Timmy. She was not impressed, especially after he told her that he used regular table salt for his circles of protection (any idiot knows that you do NOT use processed salt for that!). He also got freaked out when Tbone made his appearance to say hi to Michelle. Davi and Michelle decided to bring Jack and Sharee over to help with the protection stuff. Whom or whatever was stalking Timmy needed to be kept out. That meant some heavy duty protection spells.
After she left Davi and Timmy, Michelle met up with Sharee to check out the two possibilities for Tommy's birth family. They decided to use Mardi Gras as their excuse for the visits. They claimed they were collecting donations for a couple of the parade floats and that the money would be used to help poor and orphaned children. The first possible was definitely not it. There was no family resemblance at all. The second possibility was heartbreaking. The man lived in an old, dirty, brokendown apartment. He was old, dirty and brokendown. The resemblance to Tommy was unmistakable though. Both of them then noticed a picture on the coffee table of a smiling woman and a baby. They had found who they were looking for. Even worse, Sharee learned that Tommy's mother had committed suicide on the one year anniversary of his disappearance. All that made Sharee more determined to tell Tommy the truth about himself.
It was then time for Michelle and Sharee to pick up Jack and get back to Davi's. They got there and were instantly suspicious when Jack wouldn't let them into his apartment. After hearing the young man yelling, Michelle forced her way into his place. Jack used magic to silence the youth and explained that he was a Warlock and that he was waiting on a meeting to decide what to do with him.
They got back Davi's and freaked Timmy out again by chatting away with Tbone and shorting out some of his surveillance equipment. Michelle used KTS on him and saw a small black disc on his back, which was pulsating slightly. She informed all there that Timmy was bugged and that it would have to be dealt with, which Jack did. During that, it came to Davi's attention that he had a visitor outside. Michelle followed him out and watched as he crossed the street and greeted whomever was there. She tried using KTS but she heard the word "no" and had her power shut down. The short pudgy man was Longinus, another demon coin holder that Davi had dealt with before. Longinus had greeted him as Kuzeal and didn't seem impressed when Davi told him that wasn't who he was anymore. Davi then warned him away from Timmy. However, Longinus didn't seem to concerned with the warning. He implied that Timmy was in the running to become the next demon imbued coin holder.
Inside the house, Timmy was in great pain as Jack attempted to pull the tracking bug off him. He was finally able to do so and Timmy fainted from the ordeal. When Davi returned to the house, Michelle decided to use KTS on him and Sharee. There were too many people/things running about with the ability to influence others. She just wanted to check. With Davi, she saw that he was the same as before except the protector image was stronger. He carried a longsword from the crusades (remember, in real life the sword he weilds is a katana) and he now had a golden halo of light around him. Sharee was also pretty much the same as before. Michelle has seen that her magic potential was skewed but she now knew this was because it was from a Fey source. She also saw the presence of Jaboo about her- a slight taint. When she mentioned this to Sheree, Sheree answered that the spirits were always about. Michelle wasn't so sure but didn't say anything more. What she saw wasn't a presence; it was a taint.
So ends part one of the game. Jack, Sharee, and Michelle all went home to get some sleep. However, Davi decided to play investigator. What happened to him and what followed will be coming soon in the exciting conclusion to the game!
