Booze, blood, and banging in the Big Easy...part 2

To continue:

Michelle goes to the hospital with Davi. After he is stabilized, she heads off to work. So, no sleep. While there, she gets an emergency phone call from TBone, the gang leader. She heads over to where he is and finds out that one of the gang members has been attacked by Ghouls. This is a no-no. The supernatural are not supposed to target humans. After a few minutes, she gets it together and decides what to do. She gives them a few instructions and gets a ride to her place to pick up her mini gun, which she lends to them.

Yes, she has a mini gun in her living room. It's for pest control.

So, let's recap. Jack (another player's character), Davi, and Michelle just killed Jack's mentor after he stole the demon possessed coin Martin had sent to Davi as a joke. Sharee had just been rescued from the mp's after escaping from the fey lord who wants her to have his child. Martin won't leave town and has just about gutted Davi, and Davi's gang is now being hunted by ghouls sent by person unknown. So Michelle does what any other rational person would do; she decides to get drunk. Too much stuff happening and too little sleep.

Which leads us back to Temptations. Blue opens a bottle of eighty year old whiskey. Michelle takes her bottle, guilt, fear, and sorrow to an alcove and drinks. When Blue checks on her, she decides "what the hell" and goes to his place and has sex...really really GREAT sex. After, she heads back to her bottle and alcove and they have sex again...really really GREAT sex. And one more time after that because it's just that GREAT. Of course, Michelle is rather toasted about now, so Blue calls up Sharee to come and take her home. It really didn't help much that Michelle and Blue were making out like teenagers in front of Temptations when Jack and Sharee drove up. It REALLY didn't help matters that Michelle kept talking about sex. Between bouts of sex talk, Michelle did mention to Sharee about the ghoul attack on the gang, which pissed Sharee off to no end. The session ended with Michelle getting a ride to her house from the gang house (Sharee had left her there, out of disgust probably) and Jack and Sharee went off to a battle at her place. I won't go into that, since Lana covered it in her blog.

Michelle did tell Sharee one thing during the ride, She told her that sometimes, even when things are going to hell, sometimes you just need to let go and forget it for awhile. To take a few hours or a day off. The point she was trying to make in her drunken state was that you can't live with that level of fear and tension without some kind of break from it. She wasn't able to get the whole point across because she was fucking wasted but it was made. Michelle knows the fear and anger that Sharee is feeling; she has been feeling it for seven years. She sees Sharee as a younger version of herself and she feels compassion towards Sharee for what she is going through. Michelle knows that Sharee wants to take care of everybody. Michelle wants Sharee to learn that sometimes you have to take care of yourself (even if it means getting drunk one night) before you can take care of anyone else. I foresee a girl bonding moment in game. Definitely NOT over cocktails though. Maybe cheeseburgers. Temptations has really really GREAT cheeseburgers.

Booze, blood, and banging in the Big Easy

A bit of an explanation, I enjoy role playing games. Right now, I am playing in two of them: Mage (run by Lana) and a Dresden game (run by Matt). This is about the Dresden game.

The system is surprisingly simple and fun. As characters, everyone gets to participate in city creation. Each character also gets to tell a simple tale about themselves and some of the other characters. Much more creative then the standard D&D introduction. If any readers out there play D&D, you know what I mean...

GM: Okay, you're all sitting in a tavern...
Players: Oh hell. Not THAT again.

Back to the Dresden game.

The city we picked was New Orleans, post Katrina. Frankly, it was a no brainer. With it's reputation for hedonism, voodoo, bars, partying, and corruption it was tailor made for Dresden. There are the usual cast of characters. You have wizards, vampires, ghouls, fey, and humans.

My character is Michelle Duchesne: a true french creole. Her family patriarch arrived in New Orleans in 1798 and promptly had to run to the bayous after breaking a few city laws. It's funny how some people get so upset about murder and larceny. Her family has been there ever since, making a living from the swamps and basically getting involved in blood feuds for fun. Her parents decided that enough was enough and their children would have better. So, at the age of eighteen, Michelle came to New Orleans and opened a stall in the French Quarter Market. She's done pretty good at it. Her shop carries anything having to do with magic and voodoo. Not the new age hippy crap, the REAL stuff. She is also what is known as a minor talent. She can see a persons true self. It cuts through any disguise. Very useful when you are dealing with magical beings.

The only other extraordinary thing about her and her shop is that it is one of only two places in the city that are considered neutral ground.  Basically that means any being that is part of the Accords can meet there in perfect safety. Even if blood enemies show up together, nothing can happen. No harming in any way. Her counterpart is Blue (a white court vampire- they feed on emotions- his is lust), who runs a strip club called Temptations. They have known each other for about seven years and have flirted shamelessly that entire time. See where this is leading?

What set it off was no sleep and a very bad couple of days. In the game, the hits have been coming fast and heavy. Take a fey Lord trying to (literally) fuck another character (Lana's character Sharee), a Black Court vampire (Martin) giving a demon possessed coin to another character just for fun, an unknown person sending ghouls after all of us, Davi (another player's character) who can only see things as black or white, and a group of gang members running about...Well, you can see how Michelle ended up where she did.

It started at Temptations, where we went after getting Sharee back from the mp's. It's a long story. While there, Michelle wanted to talk to Martin about him leaving New Orleans or at least leaving the group alone. Now, Michelle is what you could call fiery...or headstrong...or a bitch. She doesn't like to back down and she isn't afraid to speak her mind. It's the Creole in her. While she and Martin were talking, Davi, who was in his van...which is where he keeps a good portion of his weapons, got a bead on him with a laser sight. To make a long story short, Davi ended up losing an eye and being practically disemboweled. So, it's off to the hospital and no sleep. That was the beginning.
