Heaven ain't close in a place like this

Figured I better get this done before my copy of Diablo III gets here. Once that happens, I am going to be doing nothing else for a bit.

Well, it's still Mardi Gras and the Big Easy is burning up. This installment of the Dresden game brings you meetings, possessions, shootings, dismemberment, a nasty geography lesson, and beheadings for all.

Jack was sleeping/resting up at Davi's when he heard a knock on the door. He opened the door to find our favorite drunk, Weststone there. Jack invited him in and Weststone asked him what the hell happened. He started his tale with, "I met this chick on Bourbon Street." He then went on to tell the rest of the tale, with a few exclusions. Nothing was mentioned about his killed by magic mentor being let loose from the dagger. After all that, Weststone told Jack that there had been a upsurge in the use of black magic in the area. Nothing much but he wanted Jack to look into it. Best to nip these things in the bud before they got really bad (foreshadowing anyone?...anyone??).

After her conversation with Lucas at the cafe, Michelle headed back to her shop to actually work. As she walked closer, she started to feel happier, even going as far as having some pleasurable fantasies about past times with Blue. Getting closer, she saw the cause of it; Duke Henry was waiting for her in front of the shop, ready to have their chat. She invited him in and got right down to it- not THAT, the talk. Michelle told Henry that since he had painted a great big target on her and the rest of the group, he owed them. For that, Michelle wanted his help with the BCV and Ghul situation. She also suggested that he tighten his control over the local police force. Between eradicating the BCV and the Red Court, the body count was going to spike in the future. All information about the remaining Skavis vamps was also asked for. Henry agreed to all of it, adding that she would bring Arthur to him when she finds him. He also told her that he had informed all that she was not to be touched or messed with. The meeting ended with Henry trying to talk Michelle into some fun and games; she politely declined. One WCV in her bed is enough. She's fairly confident she could handle Blue, not so much with Henry.

Back at the cafe, Sharee realized the perks of a sunny disposition. Her friendly attitude garnered tips like crazy. When she went to toss out the garbage, she ran into Puck. He told her that he had found Thomas in the Nevernever. He had been picked up by members of the Summer Court and they were giving him a crash course in who and what he was. Unfortunately, he seemed to be getting more like Adam but he hadn't made his choice yet. There was still hope for him. Puck reminded Sharee about her promise to him about the cake. She took the tiny fairy to the bakery and let him pick out the cake he wanted. Sharee then asked him for another favor. She needed him to find Vincent and she wasn't sure if he was in the mortal realm or the Nevernever. Puck said he would do so but told her that it would cost extra, a pizza, if he was in the Nevernever. That being agreed upon, they parted. Sharee went back to her house where she studied up on spells to send messages.

It still being Mardi Gras, Michelle closed shop and headed out for some more fun. Wanting to keep an eye on things, she used her KTS more then she normally would. She saw the usual sights: lots of vampires, fey, and otherworldly beings. One sight gave her pause though. She saw a human with another person superimposed in him, two people in one body. She called Tbone to her and asked him to look at that. He seemed surprised and told her that the person had a ghost in him. They saw a few more like that. One thing, the ghosts were of three sorts; either a doctor, security, or in a straight jacket.

Jack, after napping for a bit, woke up when Davi came home with Timmy, who gave him a dirty look. Jack just went back to sleep, only to be woken up by Tbone later, asking who the new guy was upstairs (foreshadowing anyone?...anyone??).

The next day started bright and early for our intrepid Warden. After he woke up and got ready, he headed out to the police station to retrieve his belongings. He was able to get everything but his knife. The officer on desk duty told him that's all there was and he should contact Investigator Bradley about the missing knife. After a quick trip to his house, with Jaboo griping about the knife the whole time, Jack went back to the hotel room. There he found Him (his puppy). After the reunion, Jack cast a spell to locate his knife. He followed it to an underpass in a not so good part of town. The spell pulled Jack towards the underpass, where two bums were standing. At first, he just ignored them until they challenged him. In no uncertain terms, they told Jack to leave and go away. He refused, enraging them. As they moved in to attack, Jack beat them back with a heat spell. He didn't want to kill them, just stop them, which he did. He marked the spot in the concrete wall and left, leaving the Renfields still alive but crispy and unconscious.

That same morning, Sharee woke up and put her studies to good use. She wrote a note to Thomas, saying she was sorry how things went the last time they were together and that if he wanted to talk she was there for him. She sent it off via the message spell and left for the shop. Getting there, she asked Michelle if she could use the back room to work on some potions. Not having a problem with that, Michelle said yes. After a bit, Sharee got a potion of Cat's Grace brewing (it does have a disadvantage though- the person using it is attracted to movement- if our opponents have a laser pointer, we are screwed). In the front of the shop, Michelle noticed a skinny, wizened, old man come into the shop. Just as she recognized him as Eli, she heard a scared voice say, "Help me Michelle." As she glanced around, looking for the source of the voice, she realized it was Tbone's. She turned to the old man again and saw he wasn't there anymore. With a sinking feeling, she went into the back room and told Sharee what happened. Using a summoning spell, Sharee called Tbone to the circle. He looked rough- beat up and scared. Before anything could be said, black shadow tendrils started consuming Tbone in the circle. He reached out to the two women and Sharee grabbed his arm. The black shadow covered him completely and, with a scream, Tbone melted into the ground. Sharee was left there holding his arm, which had been ripped off. Michelle and Sharee just stared at each other in horror. What had just happened was True Necromancy, very bad magic. Michelle went to call Jack, whom she greeted by his title of Warden and asked him to come to the shop.

Thus ends the first part of this game session. Part two is even more exciting as things go to hell even more.
